Full day trip from Rome to the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii
DESCRIPTION Your driver will first take you along the so-called “Highway of the Sun” to reach Pompeii. There you will visit the incredibly well preserved ruins of this ancient Roman town, where all life was stopped in an instant by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in the year 79 AD.
On the way, your driver will also point out various sites of interest such as the Abbey of Cassino. This was a monastery established by St. Benedict of Nursia around the year 529 as the source of the Benedictine Order. It was also the site of a famous battle in 1944 – this resulted from a bombing at the abbey by Allied leaders who believed that the Germans had occupied the monastery for use as an observation point. And of course you must see Mount Vesuvius, whose eruption caused the end of Pompeii almost 2,000 years ago.
After your visit to Pompeii, your driver will take you along the world-famous Amalfi Coast. The artistic and natural beauty of this area earned it a place on UNESCO’s 1997 World Heritage List. You will stop for a leisurely lunch in Positano, considered to be the pearl of the divine coast for its steep vertical architecture built into the slopes of its cliffs, all overlooking the magnificent emerald-colored sea. The small center of Positano is full of colorful shops selling all varieties of local products including “Positano fashion” clothing, ceramics and delicious lemon cakes. You can also observe the parish church that oversees the entire village with its magnificent dome paved in majolica tiles.

➢ Comfortable flat-soled walking shoes, sunglasses and sunscreen are recommended
