Travel from Rome to Tuscany in this Day Trip to Siena and the Chianti
DESCRIPTION We will depart from Rome in the morning and make our first stop in Siena, the most important Tuscan city after Florence and the protagonist of an ongoing and historic rivalry with other cities in the region. Siena offers an extraordinary wealth of art including its Gothic Cathedral, one of the few examples of Italian Gothic style, and the Piazza del Campo, where the famous Palio of Siena has taken place for more than 700 years. The Palio is a horse race involving all of the city’s 17 districts into which the city is divided. Visit a few of the districts with one of our expert guides to learn about the history and traditions of each.
After exploring Siena, you will head to the Chianti zone of Tuscany (for a wine tasting, of course)! Spend time with a local wine producer, discovering their family’s historic production process through a tour of the vineyards followed by a tasting of a few of their wines. This is the perfect way to conclude your adventures in Tuscany before you make your way back to Rome.
